Gloucester Yacht Club
The club run by boaters... for boaters

Welcome Message

Welcome to our new web site. Please enjoy the fruits of the hard work and take a look around. If you are a member, please don't forget that there will shortly me a ‘members only’ area

If you are just visiting, may I introduce you to the Gloucester Yacht Club? Located in the Historic  Gloucester Docks (Victoria basin), we are a very well established club run for our members, by our members. We have good facilities including our own clubhouse and our calendar includes many different activities, often at the clubhouse or on the canal. These include formal and informal social events, training, competitions and cruises.

Visitors and members of other clubs will always be made most welcome. If you are interested in finding out more, you may read all about us.

If you are considering applying for membership, please contact our club secretary
here for further information or email the webmaster .

Cruising.

Based centrally at Gloucester, we are ideally sited for cruising down the canal to Sharpness and on to the Severn Estuary and  through the lock at Gloucester to the semi-tidal river Severn and on to the canals systems and the Avon.

Training.

Gloucester yacht club  used to be a RYA training establishment which it is hoped to resurrect over the coming year or so when the final location of the club is confirmed.

Social Events.

As well as the informal evenings where members bring along their own food, the club organises barbeques, themed events and formal evenings in the clubhouse as well as at other locations. The social events are very popular and well supported - they offer a super evening in great company.

Club ethos

We encourage boating on the Gloucester-Sharpness canal and River Severn: we provide information and practical assistance connected with boating; and a clubhouse, with bar, for relaxing and holding social events.  There are Club events and trips throughout the year (see more under ‘Events’).

A place to unwind, meet up with friends from up and down the waterways, make new friends, and celebrate after watching a match at Kingsholm.

Our members come from a wide area, and from all walks of life, and you do not have to be a boat owner to become a member, you just need an interest in boats & waterways

Clubhouse open Friday & Saturday Evenings (20:00 until 23:00 unless advertised otherwise under ‘events’ as above).
